This is how I make it EVERY single time. Sometimes I substitute different infused olive oils, but the amounts stay the same.

Start by pouring one cup of water into a small saucepan.

Add in two tablespoons of olive oil. If you happen to have infused olive oils in your pantry (like chili, garlic or basil for example) feel free to swap those in here. It will give your couscous some subtle flavor which is always delicious!

…top with the lid and bring to a boil.

Measure out 1 cup of couscous (whole grain or regular) and 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt.

Once the water and olive oil are at a rolling boil, remove off of the heat and add in the couscous and kosher salt.

Stir to combine and cover again with the lid and set it off to the side for ten minutes. Doing this allows the couscous to have a chance to absorb the water and olive oil.

When the ten minutes are up, remove the lid and fluff with a fork.

Serve immediately. Otherwise transfer the couscous into a large bowl if making a salad.

How to Make Couscous

Here's a quick step-by-step post on how to make couscous. Regular or whole grain, Couscous is quick cooking and is lovely as is or tossed with either roasted vegetables or fresh tomatoes and mozzarella for a delicious salad. Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup uncooked couscous
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions 

  • Add water and oil to a medium saucepan, cover and bring to a boil.
  • Remove off of the heat and stir in couscous and salt. Cover and let sit for 10 minutes.
  • When time is up, immediately uncover and fluff with a fork.
