Easy Air Fryer Everything Bagels are made with greek yogurt (no yeast!) so they’re healthy without sacrificing any flavor. Studded with sunflower seeds and topped with homemade everything seasoning, these bagels are incredible! Yields 4 in about 45 minutes.
If you’re stuck at home and out of bagels.
I hope you have some plain greek yogurt and baking powder on hand because you can whip up delicious homemade bagels without the use of yeast in minutes. Using the base recipe from my greek yogurt pizza dough, these bagels are just as easy to throw together and a fraction of the calories as traditional bagels.
I love everything bagels, and if I had to pick, they’re probably my favorite. Bonus points if they have sunflower seed studded through out. So when developing this recipe, I made sure to use them because I love the added texture especially when toasted and spread with cream cheese.
To Make These Air Fryer Everything Bagels You Will Need:
- unbleached all-purpose flour
- baking powder
- kosher salt
- onion powder
- garlic powder
- sunflower seeds (shelled)
- plain nonfat greek yogurt
- everything seasoning
- egg
In a large mixing bowl, measure and add: 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour, 2-1/4 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder.
Whisk to combine and then add in 3 tablespoons shelled unsalted sunflower seeds.
Stir once before adding in 1 cup plain nonfat greek yogurt.
Using a spatula, mix until combined.
And shape into a ball.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Use a knife and cut the dough into 4 equal sized pieces.
Shape into a 10-inch rope.
Connect the two ends, pinching well to secure.
Repeat with the remaining pieces of dough.
Place each bagel onto parchment that has been sprinkled with everything seasoning. Gently press the dough into the seasoning so it will stick to the bottom. I’ve given good thought to these bagels, and we cannot have boring bagel bottoms.
Brush the tops of each bagel with an egg wash – 1 beaten egg plus a splash of water.
Lastly, sprinkle generously with everything seasoning.
Preheat your air fryer to 300℉ (or 150℃).
What Is Air Frying?
- An air fryer is a counter top appliance that requires less oil (anything from a few spritz to 1 tablespoon) yet produces crispy food that rivals most deep fried foods. By using circulating hot air, it moves at a high speed so the food tends to cook in a fraction of the time.
- There are a bunch of different makes and models of air fryers. My husband did the research (as he’s known to do) and found this air fryer [affiliate] to be one of the best. But do your research and purchase one that fits your lifestyle.
How is Air Frying Healthier?
- Air frying is healthier because only a thin layer of oil coats the food and when the hot air comes in contact it will crisp. Saving you a ton of fat and calories (without sacrificing any flavor!) because food is not being submerged in a vat of hot oil.
- Keep in mind, not all air fryers are equal. Some preheat and some do not. Some are smaller than others therefore you may need to work in smaller batches to air fry.

Depending on the size of your air fryer, work in batches of 2 and air fry for 12 to 15 minutes.
Or until golden brown.
That’s it my friends! These air fryer everything bagels are easy, healthier than regular bagels and SO incredible delicious.
Look how seedy!!
How To Toast Bagels In The Air Fryer:
After slicing the bagel in half horizontally, lightly spray the cut side with olive oil spray. Preheat your air fryer to 360° and toast for 2 to 3 minutes. Swipe with some cream cheese and sit back and enjoy!

THANK YOU in advance for your support!
I made these last week and they were so delish! I love everything bagels, but in the past few years have stayed away from store bought bagels. This recipe is so easy and so good – I think I’ve found a new favorite. Planning to make tomorrow again 🙂
Yay! I’m so happy to hear it!
can these be baked in the oven by any chance?
Hi Jen! I haven’t tested it out yet, but you could definitely give it a try! I just cannot guarantee the results. If you’re interested in trying it, bake them in a 325 degrees and check at the 10 minute mark until lightly golden and cooked all the way through. Keep me posted don your results please!
Just got these out of the oven! I baked them at 325 for 25 minutes…they didn’t really rise much, and they were still a bit doughy inside, but nice and golden brown. After toasting them, they were fabulous! That everything bagel seasoning is so good. Not sure what I could do differently — maybe a higher temp? Any suggestions? Maybe I need to get an air fryer haha 😉
Hi Jen! I’m glad you gave them a go! Maybe a higher temperature would work. Now I’m curious! But I would definitely recommend an air-fryer. It’s one of my favorite appliances!
I do these in the oven all the time, 350F for 20-25 minutes on parchment lined sheet pans. I’m eager to try them in the air fryer I just got this holiday.
Hi! How many points for each bagel?
Hi Heather! Since I’ve starting running and toning, I no longer use WW. So unfortunately I don’t have the app to refer to. However if my memory serves me right, without the sunflower seeds, it’s 3 points on the blue plan (does not include toppings like butter or cream cheese) and I’m not certain what the points would be on the other plans. I hope this helps!
I just tried this recipe. It is so delicious ever I think. My children like this so much. I like oily food, so I use a little bit more oil than your specifications.
Great to hear, Charlie!
These were amazing!!!!!
Did 1 batch with fage 0% fat Greek yogurt and 1 batch with kite hill vegan Greek yogurt. Both were a great hit. Will be making these all the time! Thank you for the recipe
Hi Laurie,
We like cinnamon raisin or plain bagels. Can we simply sub out the garlic, onion and sunflower seeds for cinnamon+raisin (or nothing for plain) and follow the recipe as is?
I don’t see why not. I’m working on different variations, but feel free to give it a go. Enjoy!
We like the cinnamon raisin, also, and we’ve just discovered the homemade blueberry or raspberry bagels to be a family favorite. My son’s next adventure will be to make a marionberry form. Our favorite until now has been the bagel dough mixed with Knorr spring vegetable soup mix or onion soup mix, washed with olive oil and egg whites to decrease the fat content.
Hi. Anyone know if you can use dairy free Greek yogurt?
Without testing it, it’s hard to say. But I think you could. Keep me posted, I’d love to know!
Yes you can but I have found it hard to find. I use plain dairy free yogurt and just use a little less then the recipe calls for
I tried that and it didn’t come out with the same texture a bagel should have. The molecular structure of the nondairy is different, after all.
Yikes!
Is the “2000 mg Sodium” listed in the nutrition analysis correct?!
If so, that’s a FULL DAY’S recommended max consumption, in one empty bagel – no cream cheese, no melted Cheddar, no BLT with mayo, just the bagel!
If that’s accurate & not a typo, I can’t agree that this is a “healthy” recipe.
I’m a bit stunned.
Hi Terry! I think the nutritional calculator was figuring the sunflower seeds used were salted. I’ve since updated the nutritional information using unsalted sunflower seeds.
Thank you kindly –
that’s much better, but still close to half the day’s (generous) allotment.
I think I’ll use a salt-optional recipe, with my dry roasted sunnies, & adapt it to the air fryer.
I have dried toasted onion, garlic granules, & poppy seeds, too, so they should be well seasoned.
I have high gluten flour for chew, I’m using it for the 1st time, & I’ll use half high gluten & half whole wheat (the WW will be twice sifted before measuring, it’s more sense than white flour).
I’m excited to see how they turn out – heating the kitchen up just to bake seems so wasteful, the Air Fryer should be much more efficient.
;–)
Good grief – doggone SpelChek!
Sorry, for those who might like to add some protein & fiber in recipes, there’s a typo in my comment, above.
whole wheat flour is more DENSE than white – so in recipes designed for white flour, sifting Whole Wheat flour twice or even 3X before measuring, & returning the bran & germ each time, lightens it by adding air, but retains the nutrition & fiber.
I have a wonderful recipe for Amish pie crust which is written for white flour, but sifting my WW flour 3X before I measure makes a tasty, flaky pastry.
Apologies for the confusion.
Can you substitute sour cream for the yogurt?
How much flour? The steps do not list the amount of flour. Also, can almond flour be substituted for all purpose flour
Hey Maryanne! The recipe calls for 1 cup of flour. And unfortunately, without testing it I can’t say for certain if these would turn out using almond flour.
Wow, these were amazing! I wish I could post my pics. Thank you for posting the detailed instructions. They came out perfect. My parents owned a bagel shop when I was a kid and your recipe is great! I can’t believe how easy it is compared to traditional bagel making. You have rave reviews from our family. My dad’s mind was blown.
Best comment EVER! I’m so glad you and your family enjoyed this recipe!
Made these last weekend. I used sesame seeds instead of the “everything” seasoning and they turned out GREAT. Thank you — this recipe is a keeper!
Oooh! I’m going to have to try sesame seeds next time! Glad you like them!:)
Did someone say they used silky tofu instead of greek yogurt?
Unfortunately mines didn’t come out well. I did use whole milk yogurt instead of non fat so that could be it. The dough was super soft and hard to work with. I plopped the whole parchment sheet in the air fryer since it’s the only way to transfer it. Cooked for much more time and the flavor was good, kind of resembled a biscuit. It was a good breakfast
Loved your recipe! Made them yesterday and they were a hit with my family! I’m definitely making them again today and going to try to play around with ingredients to make a variety of bagels. The black sesame (we think) made the bagels a bit too bitter for our taste, but I’m not complaining. This is still a wonderful recipe. Can’t wait to see what other ingredient combos I can come up with from this! Thanks a bunch!
Wondering if these would work with Gluten Free flour?
Yes! They come out way more bagel-y than any gluten free bagels I’ve ever found. I was so happy.
That’s so great to hear, Amy!
Wow! Awesome recipe. Made these this morning with whole wheat flour and they came out great. I cut them open toward the end and let them toast up a little extra in the air fryer. Definitely satisfies the bagel craving without the guilt and keeps you fuller longer! My husband loves these cheddar jalapeño bagels we get locally so he asked me if I could try that sometime. Definitely going to be a regular staple in our kitchen 🙂
So glad to hear it, Liza! You’ve definitely go me thinking about creating a jalapeño cheddar bagel now!
Can I make these the night before and put them in the fridge? Take them out to get to room temperature and then air fry them?
I followed the recipe to a t. After 12 min in our air fryer at 300 F they came out golden brown but not cooked inside. Put them back in for the last recommended 3 min but to no avail. I’ve seen other recipes that call for baking at 350 so I did that and the outside was toasted and the inside was closer to being baked.
Bagels are defined by dough that is boiled or steamed, which give the authentic dense and chewy texture. This is not a bagel recipe.
Be nice don’t be negative
This is just a healthier version
She can call them bagels if she wants
It’s her recipe
My comment is not negative.
Yep. An unboiled bagel is just a roll with a hole. 😉
Lol! Love it!
Does it need to be nonfat greek yogurt or can you use a full fat yogurt? Just went to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients and grabbed full fat instead of nonfat yogurt!
2-1/4 does that mean 1/4 x 2, or 2tsp + 1/4 tsp? Thanks!
That is 2 tsp + 1/4 tsp. US measurements would say 1/4 x 2 as 1/2 tsp. Good luck!
I made these today, so easy so delicious! thanks for a great recipe.
I’m so glad, Louise! Thanks for taking the time to make this recipe and leave a comment! It’s greatly appreciated!!
I love this idea but my bagels still weren’t fully cooked in the middle after 15 minutes but we’re very crispy on the outside so I didn’t want to cook them any longer–any thoughts as to why this is?
Can I make the dough the night before and air fry them in the morning?
Hi John! I don’t see why not. Enjoy!
Wow, these were so good!! I wasn’t sure what to except because it seemed too good to be true and I have never made bagels before, but the recipe was super easy to follow and it turned out SO yummy. I can’t wait to make it for my family this holiday season, I think they will be really impressed;)
Sunflower seeds? Sure you don’t mean sesame seeds?
I’m sure! The recipe states to mix shelled sunflower seeds in the dough – sort of like how Thomas’ does!
Made these today and they came out perfect! They were so easy to make and they got a thumbs up from my super picky eater. Only change I made was to substitute the sunflower seeds with minced onions because onion bagels are my favorite bagel. Will definitely be making again. Thank you for a great recipe!
Hi Laurie,
I made these about a year ago and they did not turn out well. So I tried again today and I had the same results. they look gorgeous on the outside, but the inside is raw and wet. I followed the directions to a T, except I did not have sunflower seeds so I left them out. I cooked them for 15 mins and they looked very done. I let them cool for 5 or so minutes and when I cut them they were raw and wet inside. I put them back in for 10 mins and they were better, but not great at all. Why is this happening?
Hi Susan! Unfortunately, it’s hard for me to say without being in the kitchen with you. If I had to guess, I would think the dough needs more flour worked into it when shaping and rolling. The base of this recipe I use for all my air-fryer bagel recipes with great success. So I would start with being a little generous with the flour when shaping. I hope this helps!
