Skip store-bought and make your own Homemade Lemon Pepper Seasoning! It’s an easy way to flavor chicken, seafood or for seasoning marinades. This recipe makes 1/2 cup.
Back when I started this blog, one of the first recipes was homemade lemon pepper. The recipe is still on here but it requires dehydrating lemon peels. And to be honest, I never make that recipe because it’s so involved and time consuming.
What I do make is this much much easier version.
To Make Homemade Lemon Pepper Seasoning You Will Need:

THANK YOU in advance for your support!
How do you dry the lemon peel without dehydrating it? Thanks.
Hi Kathie! Previously I dried it out in a low temp oven, I’ve also dried it in the microwave it on a low setting. However you lose a lot of the lemon essence or flavor this way. All that work is essentially for nothing. So purchasing dried lemon peel is the best way to really get that lemon flavor.
Made this yesterday. Although I left out the salt since we’re on a sodium-restricted diet. It is very good, actually better than the True Lemon© Lemon Pepper that I had to order online. Thanks.
I’m so glad, Sheila! Thank you for taking the time to make this recipe!
excellant my lady friend puts it on every thing whats good for her is good for me
I’m so glad, Dale!
I dehydrated my lemon peels after juicing them, and turned them into powder with my blender as suggested by many YouTube videos (seems a shame to waste the peels). Now I’m on the search for what to do with the powder! I found your recipe because you mentioned you used to dehydrate the peels. Since I’m using a powder, will the proportions be the same in the recipe? I’ve never used store bought dried peels before to know the difference. Thanks for any help here, and even more suggestions for lemon powder uses (and proportions!).
Hi Nancy! Without testing, it’s hard to say what the proportions would be. If it was me, I would start by adding half the amount and gradually add more to taste. I’ve never worked with lemon peel powder but I personally would add it to salad dressings or marinades and maybe try baked goods as well. Hope this helps!
